The scientific evidence to support the administration of nutritional supplements to pets is often very weak. Best evidence are randomised controlled trials (RCTs)

Avocado/soybean unsaponifiables (ASU) (n=1 non-RCT - Abstract only in English)

One clinical trial (available only as an abstract in English) reports reduced pain and improved joint function in treated dogs (n=17) compared to control group (n=10) with OA (Audisio 2005).
